About us

Hi, my name is Shana but my nickname is Bean and welcome to Baked by Bean- a cute, pink cupcake shop in the heart of Leslieville, where everything is made by me, from scratch and always fresh. 

Each morning, I bake all of our cupcakes on site using real Canadian butter, milk and eggs. I specialise in freshly baked cupcakes, cakes, sugar cookies and corporate events. Everything is made in small batches, every day.

Visit our shop Thursday-Monday and try our everyday flavours- Vanilla, Chocolate, Cookie Dough, Salted Caramel, Hazelnut and Maple Waffle. Come see us on Fridays and Saturdays to get our Vanilla Sundae cupcake.

I also offer seasonal cupcakes throughout the year and every now and then I do a weekend special flavour like Red Velvet. Check my Instagram @itsbakedbybean for updates!

The story behind the name:

When I was born, I arrived a lot earlier — and a lot tinier — than expected. From that day on, I’ve been lovingly known by my nickname, Bean. What started as a small name grew into something much bigger. Years later, I began sharing my homemade bakes online, and when it came time to choose a name, Baked by Bean was the obvious choice. Now, that name lives here on the door of my very first shop — something I dreamed about for so long. Baked by Bean is more than just cupcakes; it’s the story of growing into something sweet.
